A Candle For You Lord

I light this candle for you Lord.
For all that you are, for all that you teach,
For all the goodness and joy that I feel;
I light this candle for you

For the surprises, for the wonderment,
For the peace and for the love;
I light this candle for you.

For the embrace and for telling me
To find a new way to embrace,
And a new way to love;
I light this candle for you.

For my thoughts and feelings,
For the words that you give me;
I light this candle for you.

For the friendships and the smiles,
For the laughter and the pain;
I light this candle for you.

For my journey which continues,
And for the learning which comes,
Through growth from above,
And from the seed within;
I light this candle for you Lord.

For the pleasures, for the warmth,
For the mingling of the trees,
For the ponds and the streams;
I light this candle for you.

For the clouds and the mist,
For the rain and for the snow,
For the fog and the sand;
I light this candle for you.

For the flowers and the trees,
For the babies and the children,
For the mothers and the fathers;
I light this candle for you.

For the moon and the stars,
For the sky so immense,
For the ocean so deep and the mountains so high;
I light this candle for you.

For some time to myself,
For some time with a friend,
For some time by the river,
For time with you;
I light this candle for you my Lord.

For the innocent and the guilty,
For the shy and reserved,
For the timid and the boisterous;
I light this candle for you.

For the houses and the gardens,
For the homes with a tree,
For the meek and weak,
For the laughter and the fear;
I light this candle for you Lord.

I light this candle for you Lord,
For the blessings you give,
And for the light you send,
For the breaths that we take,
And for the water that we sip.

For the fire that burns,
For the echoes that are heard,
For the chills that make us shiver,
And for the heat that makes us sweat;
I light this candle for you dear Lord.

For without your blessings,
Without your creations,
Without your spirit,
And without your love;
There would be none of these beautiful things.

No trees, no cows, no dogs or squirrels,
No spiders, no snakes, nor horses or cats,
No mules, no fish, no birds or sheep,
No grass, no flowers, no rocks or trees,
No me to see or others to see, nothing,
And not a candle could I light.
But for all of these things which you have created,
And for all your blessings that enable me to see;
The least I could do is light this candle for you my Lord.

So I light this candle out of love,
Out of friendship and out of cheer,
Out of joy and out of laugher for the pleasure given to me;
Oh I light this candle for you my Lord.
And I will continue to light these candles daily for you my Lord,
Because when I do I’m lighting this candle for the world each time.
For the love and for the prayers that I pray;
Lord God I light this candle for you this day.
